How To Apply Gel Nail Polish with UV-I Intelligent Polish
You won’t believe how easy it is to apply gel nail polish with UV-i Intelligent Polish – The at home gel manicure. All it takes is a little bit of practice and to follow our gel polish manicure guide to get the salon professional results that you crave.
Here you’ll find an overview for each step and by the end of it you’ll have finger nails with the perfect gel nail polish manicure.
Step One – Prepare
As with most things in life, preparation is key! Taking the time to fully prepare your fingernails and equipment will make your gel polish manicure and pedicure look fantastic and last the full two weeks, if not longer.
Find a clean, well-lit and ventilated work space to perform your at home gel manicure making sure avoid direct sunlight as gel nail polish is UV light sensitive. As a general rule, do not apply outside as the sunlight and dust can hinder your results.
Remove any existing polish from your nails then file and shape the free edge to shape that you want with a medium coarse nail file. Using the flat edge of a manicure stick / cuticle stick gently push back your cuticles and clean the finger nail plate underneath. Lightly buff the shine off the nail being careful not to over buff.
Using a lint-free wipe and a Gel Nail Cleanser clean and sanitise your finger nails and then allow them to dry for up to 15 minutes.
Step Two – Layer Up
Gel nail polish is always best applied in a few thinner coats rather than one or two thicker coats as the thickness of a gel polish manicure can greatly effect the curing time.
Apply a single, thin layer of our UV-I Base Coat to your nails starting at the cuticle and painting down to the fingernail tip in even strokes. Cap or seal the free-edge of your nail with the base coat too.
Following the instructions of your UV Nail Dryer, cure the base coat you’ve applied to your nails – with UV-I Base Coat this takes as little as 20 seconds!
Remove the tacky residue with a lint-free cloth.
As with the base coat, your chosen colour coats should also be applied in several thin layers to build up the colour and shine of your nails. Ensure that you seal the free-edge of your finger nails and use a manicure stick to remove any excess gel polish from under the nails or on your skin around the nails.
Always try to avoid contact with your skin as the gel polish may cause irritations.
Cure each layer individually for up to 2 minutes with your UV Nail Dryer. The nails may be tacky after curing, but this will help any additional layers of colour to adhere to your nails. 2-3 layers are all it takes for most colours to really pop and shine.
Step Three – Protect
Protecting your gel polish manicure is important to seal-in your good work and preserve the longevity of UV gel manicure and pedicure.
A single, thin layer of UV-I Top Coat is all it takes to protect the colour coat. As with the other layers, work in single strokes from the cuticle to the tip and seal the free edge.
Cure the top coat for up to 2 minutes and remove the tacky moisture layer using a gel cleanser and a lint-free wipe.
The last step is to use reputable cuticle oil and hand cream to help prevent any dryness of the skin around your nails.
It’s really that easy to apply gel nail polish and soon you’ll have the salon quality nails that you crave.
